Good support if there is a problem! December 20, 2008 When we first received this item, the motor wouldn't turn because the "cage" was dragging on the side of the blower housing. After disassembly, it was discovered that the cage is unsquare to the axle, and it wobbles about 3/8 - 1/2" from one side to another. I repositioned the cage on the shaft, and the unit runs good with some vibration. It is unknown whether this was a factory defect, or if it was damaged during shipping. I contacted JDS and they sent a new, balanced cage & an extra filter without any problems. Summary: You won't get stuck with a "lemon" with the JDS, so I'd recommend it for purchase.
Works well for me December 14, 2008 I bought this JDS air filter several years ago. I have been pleased with it except for one small thing. The receiver for the remote is one one side and often does not reliable receiver the signal from the remote. Since I have a metal garage door, I've discovered I can usually bounce the signal off the metal door and get it to work. If the batteries are low in the remote are low, it it often won't work. Replacing the batteries alleviates the problem.
If JDS would put the receiver on the bottom, I think it might fix this problem. I've considered mounting a small mirror slightly below the bottom on the receiver side in a position that allows angling it to reflect the signal a little better than the garage door.
JDS 3 Speed Air Filtration System October 7, 2008 This unit is no longer made in the U.S., unfortunately, but after talking to the fine folks at their SC headquarters, I went ahead and bought it. I have been well pleased with the unit. It is heavy and bulky, so an extra hand is critical in lifting it to its ceiling position. It seems to work well; I come back and the air is clear, which is good! In fact, I feel better just hearing it humming in the background even when I'm creating more noise than sawdust. I'd recommend it.
jds air filter October 3, 2008 I love this product. My customers love that I use this in ther homes. I will be getting another one to use permanently in my shop. I Finish a lot of basements. This cuts down on the dust remarkably.
Better than Jet September 9, 2008 This is a wonderful machine. I bought the Jet, which I liked, but returned it because the phantom timer had it running after it had been turned off. The JDS is better built, has a timer that works, has a great front filter in a metal frame that your just hose off to clean. And it isn't made in China but in South Carolina (I don't know where the parts come from). Its worth the extra bucks, you get what you pay for, mine was perfect out of the box including the hanging hardware! (saving a trip to the hardware store). I tried both, I like the JDS.
